Beentry was born in 2020 from personal experience. We create software and also keep bees ourselves, and it was with our own hives that we realized how few practical tools for beekeepers exist. We decided to change that.
Beentry combines the best of two worlds. On one side stands technology and clean code, on the other years of beekeeping practice. This way, we know every feature also from the other side, from the hive.
It started with our own bees
The first version solved a single thing: to record the inspection quickly right at the hives, even with gloves and without signal. Most „smart“ apps fail on that. When they require delicate two-finger control and constant connection, they are useless at the last hive at the edge of the forest.
That’s why from the start we bet on controls for working with gloves and full offline mode. This is not a marketing phrase; without it, we wouldn’t use the app ourselves.
Six years of tuning, not one big idea
Beentry did not come overnight. Behind it is six years of tuning. Gradually, apiary and individual hive management, queen tracking, feeding and treatment, monitoring of honey, wax, and propolis yields, statistics and PDF exports were added. No feature got in because “it could be done,” but because someone from us or from the users actually needed it.
It’s slower than dumping ten features over a weekend, but the result holds together as a whole, not as a pile of buttons.
When the AI boom came, we turned it to the benefit of bees
In recent years, artificial intelligence has appeared everywhere. Along with it, many apps emerged that were made in an afternoon, look good on screenshots, but after the first use, you find there’s nothing behind them. We approached AI differently: not as a marketing label, but as a tool that saves beekeepers time and worries.
Today in Beentry, you dictate the inspection in your own words and the voice recording transcribes itself and sorts into the right categories. You speak as if telling a colleague, and the app writes the rest for you. The AI assistant answers questions about your hives based on your own data. And smart tagging keeps your records tidy without you having to do anything.
What the Beentry beekeeping app can do today
From a simple notebook grew a tool that can handle the whole season. In the app you manage apiaries and individual hives, track queens, feeding and treatment, record yields of honey, wax, and propolis, and have everything displayed in statistics or exported to PDF.

Most used? Ask the community
Let’s be honest. Beentry is today the most used beekeeping app in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Just look at the app stores, beekeeping forums, and discussion groups. The name Beentry keeps coming up because there is a live community behind it, not just download numbers.
And that is the difference compared to the wave of quickly „vibed“ apps that have appeared recently. A nice package does not yet make a tool to which beekeepers entrust the whole season. That is done by long work, quality in details, and especially continuous contact with people who actually use the app.
We listen to beekeepers and it shows in the app
The best ideas for Beentry don’t come from us at the table. They come from beekeepers. You write to us what you miss at the hive or what can be improved, and we implement it, often faster than you expect. Feedback isn’t a bothersome item on the plan; it’s the main reason the app makes more sense year after year.

Milestones that pushed us forward
In 2025, our first significant professional recognition came. Beentry won the Podnikavá hlava competition organized by the Palacký University Science and Technology Park, went through the ICOK Startup Academy development program, and was presented at the Czech and Slovak startup showcase Ynovate Fest. We also caught the attention of several Czech media.

Who is behind Beentry
The app is developed by the Olomouc studio PunkHive. The project is led by Vít Zaoral, a programmer and Palacký University graduate who also brings his own beekeeping experience to Beentry. Martin Janíček holds the technical backbone of the app, and Ivo Šnyrych is responsible for graphics, design, and usability. Many of us also keep bees ourselves, so practical experience also influences the development.
Around this core, a broader team of developers, designers, and experts has gradually gathered, without whom the app would not grow at this pace. We are united by one thing: we make software based on everyday practice with bees.
Where we are headed: connecting beekeepers worldwide
Beentry has never been just about a notebook for us. Our big goal is to connect beekeepers and use the data they collectively create for the benefit of all. We are already building on this. Our beekeeping map shows hotspots of foulbrood and bee brood diseases in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and alerts you when an infection appears near your apiary. In cooperation with nature protection, we also help report the presence of the invasive Asian hornet.
The more beekeepers pull together, the smarter and more useful the entire network becomes. That is precisely why Beentry is now heading beyond Europe, to countries on the other side of the world, where the same data can help just as much as here. We believe the best tool for beekeepers is one that connects them.
